Get ready for some festive chaos, because the holiday season is getting a whole lot more complicated with the casting news for Olivia Wilde’s upcoming comedy, Naughty, set to hit Universal Pictures.

The call sheet is already buzzing with talent. In addition to the director, Samara Weaving joins the ensemble cast, which includes a stellar group: Jennifer Aniston, Peter Dinklage, Chase Sui Wonders, Regina Hall, and Ike Barinholtz.

The story itself promises a delightful blend of high-stakes drama and pure, unadulterated holiday fantasy. The spec script, penned by Jimmy Warden, outlines a surprisingly earnest quest: a mother’s only hope for custody of her son hinges on a truly magical intervention—convincing Santa Claus to step in and testify during a divorce hearing.

The roles weave together a tapestry of domestic absurdity. Chase Sui Wonders and Regina Hall will bring the warmth of friendship to the narrative as the women’s best friends navigate the magic of the North Pole, while Samara Weaving steps into the role of Barinholtz’s mistress, adding another layer of complexity to the family dynamic.

Director Olivia Wilde, who previously captivated audiences with the relationship comedy The Invite at A24, is steering this feature, bringing her signature directorial flair to the chaotic and heartwarming premise. The production team is anchored by Wilde, along with writers and producers Tom Ackerley, Margot Robbie, and Josey McNamara.

Universal has officially locked in the release date for Naughty, targeting November 5th, 2027. This gives the creative team plenty of runway, with expectations that filming will take place before diving into the next big project, Marvel’s new X-Men film next spring and summer.
