The Hustle in the Heartland: Samuel L. Jackson Steps into the World of Frisco King

The next chapter in the world of high-stakes crime drama is about to unfold on Paramount+. The studio has just released the first trailer for Frisco King, the highly anticipated spin-off of the critically acclaimed series Tulsa King, promising a fresh, gritty take on the American dream.

At the center of this new venture is the iconic Samuel L. Jackson, who steps into the role of Russell Lee Washington Jr. He trades the shadows of New Orleans for the manicured streets of Frisco, Texas, where his journey promises to be anything but smooth.

Washington Jr. arrives in the respectable suburbs, but what he discovers is that beneath the polished veneer of wealth and ambition lies a thriving, dangerous hustle. It is a stark collision between the carefully constructed façade of suburban prosperity and the raw, untamed world of organized crime.

To navigate this deceptive landscape, Washington Jr. doesn’t go it alone. He gathers an eclectic crew—an ambitious protégé, a loyal driver, and a collection of oddball associates—all united by the singular goal of transforming small-time scams into a major criminal enterprise. The challenge, as the trailer suggests, is not just making money, but figuring out how to keep it, and how to stay alive in a world that rarely offers easy exits.

This compelling narrative is built on a foundation of serious talent and pedigree. The project is helmed by the visionary creator Taylor Sheridan, who penned the original series, and executive producers including Samuel L. Jackson and Sylvester Stallone. The creative team also features David C. Glasser, who brings further expertise to the production.

Directorial talent is equally sharp, with Christina Alexandra Voros guiding the pilot and several episodes, while Michael Friedman directs the remaining episodes for the Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios-produced show.

The cast is stacked with established stars, including Asa Germann, known for Gen V; Kai Caster, celebrated for his work in Yellowstone; Lilah Pate, who stars in Outer Banks; and Savanna Gann, who brings depth as English Teacher. Even the guest appearance of Stallone adds an extra layer of star power to the ensemble.

Frisco King is set to premiere on Paramount+ on December 18th, kicking off with two episodes before transitioning into a weekly rollout, inviting viewers to follow the rise and fall of a family built on ambition, deception, and the relentless pursuit of power.
