Ronan isn’t just interested in playing a dame in a tuxedo; she has a specific vision for the role. When discussing her aspirations, she expressed a desire to go “dark,” craving a character where she can channel pent-up energy and frustration into something truly dramatic. “I want to be a Bond villain and I’m dead serious,” Ronan shared, noting that she finds the idea of a female figure who can direct that anger intensely appealing, especially for women and girls looking for a powerful, complex character.

As casting director Debbie McWilliams reflected on the essential qualities of the secret agent, she stressed that the actor must possess a certain lethal edge. “Part of his job description is licensed to kill,” McWilliams explained. “He’s got to have a kind of threat about him.”
