Sister Brother Manhole Cover Comedy Trailer
A new dark comedy is ready to roll into the cinematic landscape, promising a delightfully bizarre exploration of siblinghood, devotion, and the murky lines between right and wrong. Banana Film has just released the promotional trailer for Sister Brother Manhole Cover, the highly anticipated new feature film from North Macedonian director Milcho Manchevski.
This film sets up a wonderfully chaotic premise centered on the lives of siblings Malina and Viktor, who are navigating the fringes of Macedonian society. To make a living, the pair engage in the peculiar business of selling bronze busts and manhole covers—a seemingly mundane endeavor that serves as a strange backdrop for a deeper, more emotional journey.
Their chaotic path eventually leads them to an unexpected figure: a wealthy, blind elderly woman. Her complex mixture of hardness and profound kindness forces the siblings to re-examine their own moral compass, prompting them to confront what true devotion looks like and redefine their understanding of right and wrong.
Through this unexpected relationship, the film delves into complex territory, exploring the nuances of unconditional acceptance. Director Manchevski frames the story not as a typical romance, but as a deep study of human connection, asserting that the narrative is a story of great love and unconditional acceptance that is not erotic.
The core of the film is driven by its anti-heroes, who defiantly refuse to see themselves as victims. This philosophy injects a fresh, challenging perspective into the familiar dynamic of family drama, suggesting that true strength lies in self-determination amidst life’s absurdities.
The film is anchored by a stellar cast, featuring Sara Klimoska, Filip Trajkovikj, and Sonja Mihajlova, whose performances promise to bring depth and wit to the unconventional story.
Marking a significant event for independent cinema, Sister Brother Manhole Cover is scheduled to premiere at the upcoming 2026 Tokyo Film Festival this fall, where it is expected to generate significant buzz.
