Stephen Kalyn joins Housemaid’s Secret opposite Sydney Sweeney and Kirsten Dunst
The casting news has landed with a bang for the thriller genre. Stephen Kalyn, the fan-favorite defenceman known for his captivating performance in Prime Video’s Off Campus, is set to join the cast of Lionsgate’s highly anticipated feature film, The Housemaid’s Secret.
Kalyn steps into the role of Brock, joining an already stellar ensemble cast that includes Sydney Sweeney, Kirsten Dunst, Brittany Snow, and Paul Anthony Kelly. The film brings a familiar intensity to the screen, even as it tackles a brand new, high-stakes psychological thriller.
This new installment continues the legacy of one of the most commercially successful erotic psychological thrillers ever made. The Housemaid’s Secret serves as the direct sequel to the original The Housemaid, a story built upon the bestselling novel by author Freida McFadden.
The original film achieved monumental success, grossing over $400 million worldwide against a relatively modest production budget, proving the immense appetite for McFadden’s twist-filled narrative. It became a runaway commercial hit, setting a high bar for the suspense genre.
The story begins with Millie Calloway (Sweeney), a struggling woman who finds herself navigating a new reality when she takes on a live-in housekeeper position at a sprawling Long Island mansion owned by the wealthy socialite Nina Winchester and her tech-bro husband.
In the sequel, however, the stakes are raised significantly. Millie must keep house for a mysterious woman she is forbidden to see, but her quest to uncover the truth behind a locked door unleashes dark secrets that threaten to shatter her world once again.
Kalyn brings a proven talent to this dark chapter, having built an impressive résumé across film and television. Before making the jump to suspense, he has starred in diverse projects, including Amazon’s superhero spin-off Gen V, the horror feature Whistle, and memorable guest and recurring roles in series like Murdoch Mysteries and Law & Order: Toronto: Criminal Intent.
With director Paul Feig returning to helm the project, fans are eagerly anticipating how this sequel will deepen the twist-filled suspense, promising an even more intricate and high-stakes narrative experience.
