Sydney Sweeney and Anderson Beer team up for Sleepy Hollow

For four years, Beer has been nurturing this concept, transforming the classic ghost story into a compelling novel titled Hollow, which she sold to Putnam. This novel shifts the focus, reframing the narrative by centering it on Katrina Van Tassel—not merely a romantic prize—but the central figure caught in a dangerous mystery and a seductive supernatural love triangle. The book blends gothic atmosphere, psychological intrigue, and erotic thriller elements into a high-concept reinvention of the tale.

The creative force behind this reimagining is bringing a fresh, contemporary edge to 18th-century folklore. Now, the stage is set for a cinematic spectacle. Beer will handle both the writing and directing, while LuckyChap will oversee production through their Lab Brew banner. Adding to the dynamic team, Sydney Sweeney, known for her work in The Housemaid, has joined the project to star in the film, further enhancing the story’s magnetic appeal.

Deadline reports that Sony Pictures quickly stepped in to acquire the rights, ensuring that this reimagining gets the spotlight it deserves in a highly competitive landscape.

With Sony at the helm, the studio has immediately begun casting the romantic triangle of the story’s iconic figures, Brom Bones and Ichabod Crane.
