T.J. Power meets Alien Pal in Sci-Fi Comedy trailer
Twenty years is a long time to wait for an unexpected reunion, but for Petey, the wait has finally ended. Netflix has just dropped the official trailer for Allen, a quirky sci-fi comedy that promises to pull the rug out from under the audience with a delightful blend of alien shenanigans and unexpected drama.
At the heart of the story is a long-lost friendship. Two decades after a formative encounter with an extraterrestrial, Petey is now forced to deal with the return of his childhood alien companion, Allen. The question isn’t just where Allen has been; it’s what secret he brings back to Earth, a secret hinted to be big enough to change the world and force Petey to finally grow up and step up.
The film is anchored by a stellar cast, featuring T.J. Power as the bewildered protagonist, alongside Charlotte Nicdao, Josh Helman, Emily Barclay, and Benedict Hardie, who bring the necessary comedic and emotional balance to this interstellar adventure.
Behind the hilarious premise is the talented team of Brisbane-based Ludo Studio, the creative minds behind beloved shows like Bluey and Thou Shalt Not Steal. This project marks a significant milestone for the studio, as it is their first locally made live-action feature film for Netflix, shot across the beautiful landscapes of Queensland, including Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
The blending of lighthearted comedy with a potentially dark and surprising twist is what makes Allen so intriguing. While the film is packed with laughs, viewers are left wondering what deeper, more complicated narrative the filmmakers have been cooking up with their otherworldly duo.
If you are looking for a film that marries the whimsical nature of classic sci-fi with genuine heart and a delightfully unpredictable plot twist, Allen is a must-watch. Get ready for a journey that proves sometimes, the best adventures are the ones you never expected.
