Tarantino surprises AFI Fest with Cliff Booth action
The cinematic universe of Hollywood is buzzing, and the anticipation for the next installment is reaching a fever pitch. Fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of David Fincher’s sequel, The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, and the recent events have delivered an electrifying glimpse into what’s to come.
The excitement boiled over during a recent screening at AFI Fest in Los Angeles. Quentin Tarantino, known for his masterful storytelling, decided to treat the audience to a major surprise: he revealed the first 17 minutes of Fincher’s upcoming film during a Q&A session for his own work, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
This moment was a treat for movie lovers, offering a sneak peek at the world of Cliff Booth, a character set to feature Brad Pitt returning as the beloved, ultra-smooth stuntman. The audience erupted in cheers, eager to see footage from this anticipated thriller.
Tarantino playfully teased the crowd, balancing the reveal with a wry remark about the footage, suggesting a choice between talking about the film or showing it. The cast is already stacked with talent, including Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis, and Karren Karagulian, promising a vibrant ensemble in the new adventure.
The core concept of the new film sets a gritty, retro tone for the narrative. The story suggests that in modern Los Angeles, the traditional role of the hippie-slaying stuntman is outdated. Instead, Cliff Booth is positioned as a unique fixer, capable of navigating the sticky, often extralegal problems that inevitably arise in the glittering, yet flawed, world of Hollywood.
While David Fincher takes the helm, bringing his signature atmospheric direction, Tarantino continues to expand his creative horizons. The auteur writer-director is also preparing for a theatrical debut on the West End with his original stage play, The Popinjay Cavalier. This new venture sees Sacha Baron Cohen stepping into the spotlight as a disgraced actor caught in a whirlwind of disguise and deception, adding another layer to the rich tapestry of stories that fans of this cinematic world are already looking forward to.
