Tom Holland teams up with The Fall Guy writer for a new thriller

After delivering a cinematic juggernaut with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Sony Pictures is clearly intent on keeping Tom Holland firmly anchored in the Hollywood family. The studio is not resting on its laurels; instead, it is actively cultivating Holland’s next wave of projects by pre-emptively acquiring the upcoming thriller Penthouse.

This new project is built around a fascinating creative partnership. Penthouse is rooted in the original concepts of writer Drew Pearce, drawing inspiration from works like The Fall Guy and Hotel Artemis. Furthermore, the film is being developed through a unique collaboration, with Holland’s production company, Billy17, teaming up with Pearce’s Point of No Return to ensure the narrative is a starring vehicle for Holland. While plot details remain under wraps, this move signals Sony’s confidence in Holland’s ability to anchor high-concept, tense storytelling.

Holland’s slate, however, is proving to be far more diverse than just superhero sagas. He is also stepping into classic Hollywood shoes, embarking on a biographical role for a Fred Astaire biopic directed by Paul King. Holland will portray the legendary entertainer alongside an impressive supporting cast, including Margaret Qualley as Adele Astaire, Sabrina Carpenter as Ginger Rogers, and Talia Ryder as June Allyson.

Beyond period pieces, Holland is delving into the dramatic and true-crime genres. He is set to star in The Partner, a gripping drama based on John Grisham’s best-selling novel. In this story, Holland will play a New Orleans lawyer who fakes his own death after stealing $90 million, only to be caught up in a brutal web of betrayal and capital murder charges, co-starring with Jason Bateman.

Rounding out his exciting trajectory, Holland is also tackling a gritty docudrama in American Speed. This project chronicles the wild, true story of three professional racecar-driver brothers caught up in the infamous 1980s IMSA scandal, an era where racing dreams were intertwined with high-stakes criminal enterprises, including drug trafficking and money laundering. Alongside Austin Butler, Holland will explore the complex intersection of speed, crime, and ambition.

From web-slinging hero to master of high-stakes thrillers, acclaimed biopics, and intense true crime dramas, Tom Holland’s post-Spider-Man era is shaping up to be one of the most versatile and compelling yet. His upcoming projects demonstrate a clear vision for a performer ready to tackle any narrative challenge the industry throws his way.
