Verity drops 4 clips and a featurette for October
The Truth Beyond Fiction: What Lies Beneath the Surface of Verity
The world of psychological thrillers is about to get a serious dose of intrigue. Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled a tantalizing glimpse into the complex, unsettling world of Verity, releasing four new clips and a featurette ahead of its highly anticipated theatrical debut this Friday. Based on Colleen Hoover’s wildly successful novel, this adaptation promises to delve into the disturbing reality that the lines between fiction and truth are often the most dangerous places to tread.
At the heart of the story is a narrative steeped in obsession, manipulation, and the relentless pursuit of what is real. The film stars a powerful ensemble, including Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett, bringing their talents to a story about a writer who discovers that the truths she seeks may be far more unsettling than any story she has ever written.
The cinematic journey follows Lowen Ashleigh, played by Dakota Johnson. Lowen is a struggling writer hired to complete the acclaimed book series of the enigmatic author Verity Crawford, played by Anne Hathaway. Her mission leads her into the secluded world of the Crawford family, but soon, Lowen uncovers a disturbing manuscript filled with chilling revelations about the author and her family.
As Lowen digs deeper into the text, her perception of reality begins to fracture. She finds herself caught in a seductive psychological thriller, navigating a treacherous landscape where attraction and opportunity blur with deep-seated obsession. The core conflict hinges on Lowen’s struggle to discern what is manufactured fiction and what is brutal, undeniable reality.
Directed by Michael Showalter, the film masterfully captures the tension between Lowen’s internal turmoil and the external pressures of the secret she is uncovering. It is a deeply seductive exploration of how easily we can be manipulated, and the devastating consequences that follow when someone attempts to control the narrative.
The cast is anchored by the magnetic performances of Hathaway, Johnson, and Hartnett, supported by Ismael Cruz Cordova and Brady Wagner. Hathaway, who previously collaborated with Showalter on The Idea of You, takes on the role of the mysterious Verity Crawford, while Johnson embodies the conflicted Lowen, and Hartnett plays Verity’s husband, Jeremy Crawford.
The visual and thematic depth of Verity has been amplified by its R rating, reflecting the intense and sometimes bloody nature of the secrets that surface. It is a film that demands attention, promising a dark and complex examination of identity and deceit.
Verity will open exclusively in theaters on October 2, 2026. This adaptation continues Colleen Hoover’s legacy, taking her established themes and steering them toward a more intense, suspenseful direction, positioning the story as a masterclass in psychological tension.
