The animation and television industry just secured a major victory for its workers, ratifying landmark agreements that will reshape the future of creative compensation and protection. Nationwide, SAG-AFTRA members voted overwhelmingly to approve the new Television Animation Agreement and Basic Cable Animation Agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).

This collective action resulted in a stunning 94.95% approval rate, signaling strong support for the new four-year contracts that will govern future creative work. These agreements are not just renewals; they represent a significant step forward in securing stable and equitable terms for performers in the rapidly evolving media landscape.

At the heart of these negotiations are substantial financial gains. The new contracts ensure a concrete wage increase, providing members with a 12.6% wage increase over the duration of the agreement, boosting the financial stability for animators and voice actors across the industry.

Beyond compensation, a crucial focus of the ratification was establishing stronger safeguards for the workforce navigating the rapidly changing technological environment. The agreements include enhanced protections specifically addressing the complex and emerging landscape of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in creative production.

These enhanced provisions aim to set new standards, ensuring that as technology rapidly advances, the rights, safety, and fair treatment of performers remain paramount. The vote underscores a shared commitment to ensuring that innovation in media creation benefits both the producers and the artists behind the work.
