The comedic partnership of Ice Cube and Kevin Hart has left an undeniable mark on cinema, delivering a series of films that, despite a mixed critical reception, were undeniable box-office juggernauts. Now, the beloved comedies Ride Along and Ride Along 2 are making their final journey from the big screen to the streaming platforms, set to depart Netflix on October 1, 2026.

These films, released in 2014 and 2016, were not just fan favorites; they were financial successes. The foundation of the franchise rests on the chemistry of the stars, but the true scale of their impact is reflected in the massive earnings they generated.

Ride Along, the first installment, reportedly opened with a box office haul of $41 million. The film’s total collection soared past $154 million, thanks to strong domestic and international performance, demonstrating the enduring appeal of the comedy.

The sequel, Ride Along 2, followed suit, boasting a budget of $40 million and an opening collection of $35 million. This movie also achieved considerable success, collecting over $124 million worldwide.

While the ticket sales proved the audience loved the comedic spectacle, the critical reviews offered a more complicated picture. Critics were notably less impressed, assigning relatively low scores to both films. For example, Ride Along received a Tomatometer score of 17 percent, while Ride Along 2 garnered a score of 15 percent.

However, the audience response was overwhelmingly positive. Audience scores on the Popcornmeter were significantly higher, with Ride Along scoring 58 percent and Ride Along 2 hitting 48 percent, suggesting that while some critics missed the mark, the general public wholeheartedly embraced the humor and the stars.

The legacy of the duo and their cinematic output is clearly substantial. The success of these films has already fueled further creative endeavors, with reports indicating that development for a third entry in the franchise is already underway, ensuring that the ride for Ice Cube and Kevin Hart continues.
