Wednesday Star Dystopian Sci-Fi Movie Arrives in 10 Days

Jenna Ortega is trading the dark streets of television for the bright lights of the big screen, signaling a compelling new chapter in her cinematic career. While fans remain eagerly anticipating the third season of Wednesday on Netflix, Ortega is busy making a significant comeback in theatrical releases.

Her journey to stardom has been a rollercoaster, marked by some monumental successes followed by surprising, if less profitable, ventures. Ortega first established herself as a powerhouse, starring in major hits like Scream VI and the critically acclaimed and massive Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. These films delivered serious box office momentum, grossing $167 million and $450 million worldwide in 2023 and 2024, respectively.

However, the path to cinematic dominance is rarely a straight line. Following these major triumphs, Ortega took on executive production roles for two projects that, while creatively interesting, did not yield the same box-office results. These projects, Death of a Unicorn and Hurry Up Tomorrow, managed to gross only around $15 million and $8 million, respectively, offering a stark contrast to her previous successes.

Despite these intermediate setbacks, Ortega’s creative drive remains unstoppable. She is now channeling her energy into ambitious new projects, focusing on the genre that has captivated audiences for years: science fiction. She has lined up two major sci-fi movies, and the first one is set to hit theaters on October 23.
