The journey of a long-running television role can be a double-edged sword. For Yellowjackets star Sophie Thatcher, starring as Natalie Scatorccio has been an incredible commitment over seven seasons, but recently, she admitted that remaining in the role is becoming creatively challenging.

For Thatcher, the real hurdle lies in transitioning between personal growth and on-screen history. Playing Natalie means constantly revisiting the emotional landscape of her childhood, which can be confusing when one is striving for professional maturity.

“I personally feel a bit stunted having to play the same character,” she shared. She elaborated that while playing Natalie’s emotionally demanding scenes has become easier due to developed “cheat codes” for getting into the character’s mindset, finding the external challenge of playing a younger version of Natalie years after filming feels particularly complex.

This shift highlights an important distinction: Thatcher was not criticizing the creative vision driving the series. Instead, her comments focused entirely on her personal wish to continue growing and exploring new characters while continuing her journey within the narrative.
