Zoe Saldaña reveals why she won’t join another Taylor Sheridan show

When you’re starring in a major hit, the spotlight often shines brightest on the possibility of a sequel, a spin-off, or a chance to expand your universe. But for Oscar-winning actress Zoe Saldaña, the answer to that question is a definitive no. She has drawn a firm line, asserting that her current commitment to the world of Taylor Sheridan is more than enough, leaving no room for further explorations in the sprawling TV landscape.

Saldaña, who is currently commanding the screen as CIA operative Joe McNamara in the spy thriller Lioness, has made it clear that she is not looking to expand her footprint within Sheridan’s growing television universe. This decision stems from the sheer intensity of the work. At 48, she handles the demanding role of star and executive producer on Lioness, and that workload requires exceptional focus.

The demands of the production schedule are immense. Saldaña explained that her commitment is total, noting that she is always number one on the call sheet, meaning she is first in and last out. This level of preparation—working months ahead of others—means the commitment begins long before the cameras even roll.

She stressed that this level of dedication leaves little bandwidth for additional projects. “I can’t imagine me taking on more of a Taylor Sheridan world,” she stated, reflecting on the experience of working with the prolific creator. She found that this collaboration gave her a clear understanding of what she brings to the set.

More than just a reliable performer, Saldaña described her value in terms of personality. She shared that her time with Sheridan has confirmed that she is “honest,” “tough as nails,” and intensely “vocal and opinionated.” She added that she brings all the necessary tools to the table, quip-ing that she comes with “all heart, all brains, all muscle at all times.”

This powerful presence has clearly resonated with those around her. Her co-star, Michael Kelly, has already embraced the Sheridan world by joining the cast of Landman Season 3, further demonstrating the appeal of the creative world Saldaña inhabits.

While the question of a potential Lioness Season 4 remains open to speculation, Saldaña is focused on the powerful story she is currently telling, prioritizing depth over diffusion in her next creative endeavors.
