This year, the festival is set to be steered by a distinguished panel of talent, bringing together a unique mix of creative visionaries, industry veterans, and celebrated actors to judge the competition.

At the helm of the official competition jury will be Oscar-winner Sir Christopher Hampton. Known for his masterful screenwriting—including the award-winning scripts for Dangerous Liaisons and The Father—Hampton brings a deep understanding of narrative structure and emotional depth to the judging process.

He is joined by an impressive cohort of collaborators, including Lebanese producer Myriam Sassine, American cinematographer and visual effects specialist David Stump, French producer Julie Billy, and Estonian actress Tiina Tauraite. This panel promises a fascinating exploration of global filmmaking and visual storytelling.

Myriam Sassine brings a wealth of international experience to the table, having produced acclaimed works such as Costa Brava, Lebanon and Dancing On The Edge Of A Volcano. She also contributes her expertise by curating initiatives like AFLAMUNA Connection and leading the Tatino Films’ Full Circle Lab Nouvelle-Aquitaine Hessen.

David Stump’s background is equally impressive, marked by work on acclaimed features like Breaking Bad and Quantum Of Solace, providing a strong visual and technical perspective to the jury.

The remaining members of the jury also bring diverse creative legacies. Julie Billy, based in Paris, established June Films in 2020 and has championed powerful cinema, including the Queer Palm winner The Little Sister at Cannes. Tiina Tauraite offers a rich history of performance and direction, with films such as Autumn Ball, The Temptation of St. Tony, The Spy and the Poet, and her critically acclaimed work in 8 Views of Lake Biwa.

Together, this assembly of filmmakers and actors promises a vibrant and insightful experience for the Tallinn Black Nights Festival, setting the stage for a truly memorable selection of cinematic artistry.
