Gandalf the Grey arrives in Rings of Power season 3

For years, fans have watched with bated breath, piecing together the mythology of Middle-earth. Now, the mystery is finally solved, and the stage is set for one of the most anticipated reveals in recent fantasy cinema: the arrival of Gandalf the Grey.

In The Rings of Power, the introduction of The Stranger—the mysterious figure who descended from the sky in a flaming meteor—was initially shrouded in speculation. But the veil has been lifted: the man we have been waiting for is indeed Gandalf the Grey. This revelation immediately ignited excitement among viewers eager to see this beloved wizard fully realized in the upcoming third season.

The anticipation for the next chapter of the series has only grown stronger, fueled by actor Daniel Weyman’s enthusiasm. Speaking to industry insiders, Weyman shared his joy at learning that the upcoming season will fully embrace Gandalf, complete with his iconic cloak and hat. He expressed a desire to see the character in his most recognizable form, noting he found this new perspective on the wizard, emphasizing the “mischief, the twinkle in his eye” that all fans recognize.

This focus on bringing the legendary figure to the forefront sets a high bar for what is to come. Fans are now keenly awaiting The Rings of Power season 3, which is slated to debut on Prime Video on November 11.

Beyond the television series, the world of Middle-earth continues to expand with new cinematic ventures. Production has recently kicked off on The Hunt for Gollum, a new film directed by Andy Serkis, who also reprises his role as Gollum/Smeagol. The cast for this epic includes Ian McKellen as Gandalf the Grey, Lee Pace as Thranduil, and Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins.

The ensemble for this project also features talented newcomers stepping into key roles: Jamie Dornan will portray Strider, aka Aragorn, chief of the Northern Dúnedain Rangers, while Kate Winslet will play Marigol, the matriarch of a settlement, and Anya Taylor-Joy joins as Seren, a Sindar Elf of the Woodland Realm.

The Hunt for Gollum is currently scheduled for release on December 17, 2027. Furthermore, further cinematic exploration is underway with a new project tentatively titled Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past, featuring a script penned by Stephen Colbert.
