LAIKA’s “Wildwood” Snags PG-13 Rating for Epic Stop-Motion Adventure

The stop-motion powerhouse LAIKA is preparing to make history with their latest feature, “Wildwood,” which has officially secured a PG-13 rating. This marks the first time a film from the studio has achieved this rating, positioning it alongside beloved animated classics like “Coraline” and “ParaNorman” as a true cinematic event.

The rating reflects the film’s mature themes and intensity, stemming from material classified as strong fantasy violence, bloody images, thematic material, suicide-related content, brief partial nudity, and language.

This ambitious project is helmed by Travis Knight, the acclaimed director behind “Kubo and the Two Strings,” and is scripted by Chris Butler, known for stories like “ParaNorman” and “Missing Link.” The narrative is drawn from the rich world of Colin Meloy’s novel, promising a deeply imaginative and emotionally complex journey.
