Leopard Spots joins Tallinn Works In Progress

The cinematic landscape is buzzing with exciting new projects, and among them, a compelling international feature is making waves at the upcoming Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. The festival is set to host an industry event showcasing 16 dynamic Works in Progress, bringing a diverse range of stories to the forefront.

One notable entry is the UK/Japan co-production, Leopard Spots, directed by the talented Josh Trigg. This drama dives into the intimate and often fraught world of a single mother in Japan, exploring the complex anxieties and deep emotional struggles she faces.

Leopard Spots is certainly a project that demands attention, especially given the deeply human themes it tackles. It marks the second feature from director Josh Trigg, who has already established himself as a voice in independent cinema. His earlier work, the debut Satu – Year Of The Rabbit, garnered recognition with a nomination for a BIFA maverick award in 2020, setting a high bar for his creative vision.

The selection for the festival includes not only these international gems but also a fascinating mix of regional cinema, including five Baltic Works in Progress and five Just Film Works aimed at younger audiences. This breadth of selection highlights the festival’s commitment to discovering fresh and diverse storytelling.

Beyond the major international features, the list includes other intriguing narratives. For instance, the drama And So It Will Go On, set in Spain, tells a story in reverse, watching a village grow and change as it fills up again. This unique narrative structure promises an unforgettable viewing experience.

These selected films are all actively in production or post-production, currently seeking sales agents or festival premieres, signaling that the next wave of cinematic talent is ready to be seen.
