Get ready to witness a legend. Prime Video is launching a powerful new limited series, The Greatest, an eight-episode journey that promises to deliver an intimate, hard-hitting look at the incomparable life of Muhammad Ali.
Known globally as one of history’s most transcendent athletes, Ali’s story is far richer than just the legendary boxing victories. This series steps outside the traditional narrative of the heavyweight champion to explore the full spectrum of Ali’s existence—the battles fought both inside and outside the squared circle, revealing a life defined by profound courage, humanitarianism, and unwavering conviction.
Executive produced by Lonnie Ali, the wife of the late luminary, The Greatest offers an unprecedented window into the personal, professional, and political struggles that defined this global icon. It is an exploration that goes beyond the dazzling exploits and dramatic defeats to delve into the profound impact Ali made on the world.
The series traces the coming-of-age of Cassius Clay, following the young man through the personal and political crucible that shaped him. Set against a rapidly changing America, the narrative highlights how a once-in-a-generation talent navigated immense personal challenges while fighting for his identity and standing up for civil rights and social justice.
From his tactical mastery against titans like Joe Frazier and George Foreman to his historic decision to refuse induction into the Vietnam War, Ali’s legacy is a testament to a courage that extended far beyond the boxing ring. He transformed his global platform into a megaphone for the marginalized, cementing his status not just as a champion, but as a true champion of humanity.
The cast is stacked with talent to bring this epic narrative to life. Jaalen Best steps into the role of Cassius Clay / Muhammad Ali, joined by a stellar lineup including Omari Hardwick as Cassius Clay Sr., Dana Gourrier as Odessa “Bird” Clay, and Michael Ealy as Malcolm X. The inclusion of figures like Giovanni Ribisi as Angelo Dundee further enhances the depth of this compelling story.
The Greatest is set to debut on Amazon Prime on November 4, promising a knockout punch of emotion and history for audiences worldwide. It is more than a sports biography; it is an unforgettable story about turning potential into unparalleled impact.
