Neon’s Backroads Horror Trailer It Ends

From the creators of the infamous “Backrooms” world comes a new, terrifying odyssey: “Backroads.” The visual teaser has officially dropped, giving us a glimpse into the darkly imaginative world of the upcoming horror feature, “It Ends.”

The film plunges a group of college graduates into something far worse than a simple late-night drive. Their journey takes an unexpected turn onto a seemingly endless, two-lane hellscape, an environment teeming with untold horrors and cosmic forces that defy all known understanding. It’s the kind of existential dread you can feel in your bones as the characters navigate their terrifying new reality.

At the helm of this surreal nightmare is Alexander Ullom, who handled the writing, editing, and direction. He brings a unique vision to the screen, guiding a talented ensemble cast that anchors the chaos of the road trip. The film features Phinehas Yoon, Akira Jackson, Noah Toth, Mitchell Cole, Jon Linstad, Jenny Doyle, and Ian Weir, all grappling with the impossible landscape they find themselves trapped within.

Adding depth and atmosphere to this harrowing voyage is the score provided by Matthew Robert Cooper, known professionally as Eluvium. His haunting composition perfectly complements the unnerving journey into the unknown, enhancing the film’s sense of isolation and dread.

“It Ends” made its debut at the South by Southwest Festival last year, where it quickly garnered critical attention. The reception was overwhelmingly positive, earning a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and drawing comparisons to classic existential horror, some noting it as a modern spin on Jean-Paul Sartre’s “No Exit.”

Following its festival success, the film offered a limited four-week digital rental window through the Letterboxd Video Store. This provided a tantalizing taste of the experience before a major distribution deal was finalized. NEON has now acquired the worldwide rights for theatrical release and is set to bring this cosmic horror adventure to cinemas on August 21st.
