Netflix brings “Manifest” as a spin-off of “Arrivals”
Netflix is diving back into the realm of mystery and time travel with a new project, ordering a spin-off of the successful series Manifest, titled Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery. This new series picks up the intriguing premise of the original show, which explored the bewildering experience of passengers who seem to have been flung across the years.
The original Manifest series captivated audiences over three seasons, chronicling the journey of a group caught in inexplicable turbulence that transported them further into the future. Now, Netflix is expanding this universe, launching a new adventure that follows a fresh group of characters navigating the same mysterious reality.
In Arrivals, the story kicks off with a dramatic event: a mysterious plane crash lands in Denver. The passengers emerge with no memory of who they are, where they came from, or why they are suddenly stranded.
To uncover the truth behind this bewildering situation, the new group forms an unlikely alliance. A young social worker teams up with a novice Homeland Security agent to try and avert a catastrophe that threatens humanity. As they investigate the crash and the unexplained phenomenon, they quickly discover that they are all intricately woven into the very puzzle they are trying to solve.
The creative team behind the spin-off is bringing a rich history to the new narrative. Series creator Jeff Rake is collaborating with the original show’s writers and co-executive producers, Margaret Easley and Laura Putney. This collaborative effort brings together a talented group, including executive producers Robert Zemeckis, Jack Rapke, Len Goldstein, and Jacqueline Levine, to co-create and co-showrun the new Warner Bros. Television series.
This spin-off promises to deliver a fresh take on time, fate, and mystery, leveraging the established world of Manifest while introducing exciting new characters and escalating the stakes of the temporal predicament.
