Nintendo drops new Kirby and Metroid games
Nintendo has once again delivered a dose of pure gaming excitement, dropping a major showcase at its recent Direct presentation that highlighted two titans of its catalog: Metroid and Kirby. While the showcase featured reveals from over 30 titles, the attention immediately focused on the major sequels that promise to redefine classic franchises.
Leading the charge is the highly anticipated follow-up to the critically acclaimed series. Players can prepare for Metroid Ravenous, a side-scrolling adventure that picks up immediately after the tension of Metroid Dread. Set to launch on January 28th, fans will once again step into the boots of Samus Aran, plunging into the unknown depths of an uncharted moon.
Equally exciting is the news surrounding the beloved pink puffball, Kirby. The next installment, Kirby and the World Beyond, shifts the focus to a more expansive, open-style world. Building on the success of previous titles, players will experience a grander adventure where Kirby utilizes his signature ability to copy and deploy the powers of various enemies.
Adding a touch of nostalgia to the reveal, the trailer also featured a surprising glimpse of Kirby holding the Master Sword from Zelda. This connection hints at ambitious design choices and a rich tapestry of gaming history woven into the new experience.
Kirby and the World Beyond is slated for a release in Spring 2027, promising a vast new playground for Kirby’s adorable, yet incredibly powerful, abilities.
