The weekend of August 28th to 30th saw a major cinematic triumph in South Korea, as Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster, The Odyssey, dominated the box office.

The film not only maintained its position at the top but showcased remarkable audience engagement, solidifying its status as a cultural phenomenon. This success was tracked by KOBIS, the tracking service operated by the Korean Film Council, which provided a detailed snapshot of the film’s performance across the nation.

The numbers paint a picture of an event: over the three-day period, $8.7 million was generated from the film’s run. This revenue was driven by an impressive 1,058,642 admissions.

The performance was wide-reaching, demonstrating strong market penetration across various viewing venues. The Odyssey was screened across 2,071 screens, reaching a massive audience.

Crucially, the film captured a significant share of the weekend theatrical activity. By securing 64.7% of the total weekend admissions, the movie cemented its place as the undisputed cinematic focus for South Korean audiences during those days.
