Get ready to swap your sleigh bells for some serious firepower, because Universal is dropping a fun-filled trailer for Violent Night 2. This installment throws Santa Claus into a new kind of holiday chaos, proving that when you’re dealing with ruthless gangsters, even the jolly man needs more than just magic to handle the situation.

The story kicks off in the first film where an embittered Santa, armed with lethal combat skills, took on a team of mercenaries to save a girl and her family. Now, for the sequel, we see Saint Nick suit up again, but this time his festive spirit is tested by real-world danger. He is now tasked with confronting a ruthless gangster, played by Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Jared Harris, who is terrorizing the merchants of the Silver Bell Mall.

But when Santa forgets the true meaning of Christmas bliss, he finds himself deep within a lively mall community in desperate need of assistance. Sapped of his usual magic, he must find another way to take on the goons threatening the center of the shopping district, and time is running out. To pull off this impossible mission, Santa has to rediscover his faith in goodness and call in some last-minute reinforcements from the one person no baddie wants to tangle with: the formidable Mrs. Claus, played by Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Kristen Bell.

The dynamic cast is stacked with talent. Alongside David Harbour as Santa Claus and Kristen Bell as Mrs. Claus, the film features a lineup of action-heavy stars, including Jared Harris, Joe Pantoliano, Daniela Melchior, Andrew Bachelor, and AEW professional wrestler Maxwell Friedman.

Behind the scenes, director Tommy Wirkola returns to helm the action, working with producers Kelly McCormick and David Leitch. The creative team is clearly aiming for something grander than the first installment. While the first movie found its footing in a Die Hard space, the team has teased that this sequel will aim for something even bigger. Director Wirkola and writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller have suggested that while the action remains high-octane, the film will incorporate a little Western influence.

Violent Night 2 is slated for release on December 4.
