Tom Cruise Days of Thunder 2 casts Anne Hathaway Sequel Date

When superstar Tom Cruise dropped the latest news, the racing world and Hollywood immediately stopped to stare. He isn’t just planning a sequel; he’s bringing a major star alongside him for the highly anticipated racing adventure, Days of Thunder 2.

The surprise casting involves Anne Hathaway, who will join Cruise in the high-speed drama. Cruise revealed the news through social media, sharing a photo of the two talents posing beside a NASCAR vehicle in Daytona, signaling that the dynamic duo is back on the track.

The project has officially locked in a theatrical release date for June 2, 2028. Beyond the premiere date, the production is gearing up for an epic visual experience, planning to shoot the film in IMAX. Filmmakers are also aiming to deliver an immersive experience across multiple premium formats, including Dolby and 4DX.

Hathaway’s role is set to be equally compelling. She will reportedly step into the shoes of a team owner and engineer, adding a new layer of complexity to the racing narrative that follows Cruise’s character, Cole Trickle, as a NASCAR driver.

At the helm of the sequel is director Jonathan Levine, bringing his vision to Paramount Pictures. Cruise will continue to star in the film as the celebrated NASCAR driver, Cole Trickle, from the original 1990 feature.

The foundation for this high-octane spectacle was established by the original film, which grossed over $82.6 million domestically and $157.9 million globally. The first installment, scripted by Robert Towne, showcased Cruise’s journey as a rookie stock car racer breaking into the world of NASCAR.

The original production was overseen by Cruise, Don Simpson, and Jerry Bruckheimer, leveraging the talents of a talented ensemble cast, including Robert Duvall and Randy Quaid. Now, the focus shifts to this next chapter, promising adrenaline, ambition, and the undeniable star power of two major Hollywood names.
