Five Star Weekend is back on Peacock

Peacock has decided that life deserves an encore, renewing its highly successful drama series The Five Star Weekend for a second season.

The series, which premiered just four weeks ago, quickly established itself as a cultural phenomenon. Creator Bekah Brunstetter has consistently hinted at a desire to expand the narrative beyond the confines of Elin Hilderbrand’s acclaimed 2023 novel, and now NBCUniversal is delivering on that vision.

The series has achieved remarkable viewership, becoming Peacock’s most-watched scripted show to date. It has amassed an astounding 2.1 billion minutes watched and secured a spot among Nielsen’s top five streaming original series in its initial two weeks alone.

At the heart of the story is Hollis Shaw, portrayed by Jennifer Garner. Hollis is navigating the complex waters of grief following the loss of her late husband while attempting to maintain a picture-perfect existence. But as her world begins to crack open, so do the carefully constructed boundaries of her marriage, her relationship with her daughter, and her own quest for external validation from her fans.

To find a moment of respite and rediscover herself, Hollis plans a luxurious escape to Nantucket. She gathers three friends—representing different stages of life, from childhood to motherhood—and one unexpected guest, setting the stage for an intimate exploration of unspoken truths.

What begins as a weekend retreat quickly transforms into a crucible where secrets are exposed and relationships shift in ways the characters never anticipated. As boundaries blur and emotional truths surface, the dynamics among the group unravel, creating a narrative rich with complexity and genuine human connection.
