Goremageddon sets September event and October release
The roar of the heavy metal world is about to be followed by a satisfying, gory crescendo. The highly anticipated sequel, Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon, is finally setting the stage for its wider release, promising a night of extreme entertainment for the gorehounds and metal fanatics who have been waiting for it.
Jason Lei Howden is back at the helm, bringing his signature blend of heavy metal, black magic, and delightfully extreme gore to the screen. This sequel kicks off the rollout with a special theatrical event planned for September 29th, screening in select Alamo Drafthouse theaters as part of the Fantastic Fest Presents program. Get ready to brace yourselves for the chaos.
For those who can’t make it to the September showing, the film will follow a digital release shortly thereafter. You can rent or purchase Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon digitally in the United States, Canada, and the U.K. starting on October 13th.
Beyond the theatrical run, physical media enthusiasts can look forward to a physical release later in October, featuring both a Standard Edition and a Limited Edition Steelbook on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD. While the exact street date is still being kept under wraps, the physical collectibles promise to be just as wild as the film itself.
So, what exactly is this mayhem about? At its core, Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon throws us back to the aftermath of a demon apocalypse. Years later, Brodie is trying to find his footing—unemployed, single, and adrift—but he soon realizes that the only way to find redemption, and hopefully win back his ex-girlfriend, Medina, is to revive his fallen heavy metal band, DEATHGASM.
The setup is immediately derailed by some truly gruesome circumstances. The bandmates are missing, and the situation is far from simple—Brodie will have to raise his dead bandmates from beyond the grave. Fortunately, Brodie still has the power of The Black Hymn, making the process of resurrection surprisingly easy. It’s a perfect blend of heavy metal chaos, dark magic, and slapstick absurdity.
The film retains the formula that made the original a cult classic: a potent mix of heavy metal intensity, dark occultism, brilliant comedy, and unapologetic gore. It is a true celebration of the misfits, the freaks, the outcasts, the headbangers, and the gorehounds.
The creative team behind the spectacle includes returning talents like Milo Cawthorne as Brodie and Kimberley Crossman as Medina, alongside other familiar faces. The project is produced by Nick Garrett, Antonio Hrynchuk, and Andrew Thomas Hunt, with the original score by Trivium frontman Matt Heafy, backed by a soundtrack featuring heavy hitters like Skinless, Havok, and GWAR.
Having already journeyed through the world of film festivals—including Fantastic Fest, Sitges, and ScreamFest—Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon has been on an epic journey. Now, after years of festival hype, the sequel is finally ready to deliver the loud, chaotic experience that fans have been craving.
