Dugout Dads: The Sandlot Spiritual Sequel Trailer

When you’re a kid, baseball is your life. And sometimes, the best stories are found right there in the dusty dugout.

Hambino Media has just dropped the official trailer for Dugout Dads>, a new series that promises to deliver all the nostalgia and comedic charm of the classic 90s summer hit, The Sandlot>. This isn’t just a simple remake; it’s positioned as the true spiritual sequel, bringing back beloved original actors to star in a follow-up baseball comedy that digs deep into the shared memories of childhood games.

The project is anchored by the actor Patrick Renna, who not only stars in the series but also played “Ham” (also known as “The Great Hambino”) in the original film. Renna has shared some insight into why this series exists—and why it’s exactly what fans have been waiting for.

“They were toying with doing a sequel, and it’s tough because it’s not like taking the actual original IP and trying to better it, because to do that is impossible. How do you better that? That was lightning in a bottle.”

Instead of trying to improve upon the original masterpiece, Renna opted to create this series with his friends. The premise follows an idealistic dad who volunteers to coach his Little League team, only to discover that the most unruly players aren’t the ten-year-olds—it’s actually the other coaches, parents, and sometimes himself!

The ensemble cast is packed with familiar faces bringing their unique comedic talents to the pitch. Alongside Renna and Danielle Fishel>, the series features a stellar group including Chauncey Leopardi> as “Squints,” Tom Guiry> as “Scotty,” Brandon Quintin Adams> as “Kenny,” Marty York> as “Yeah-Yeah,” Grant Gelt> as “Bertram,” Victor DiMattia> as “Timmy,” and Shane Obedzinski> as “Tommy.” Adding to the crew is Michael Peña>, who steps into a crucial role in the narrative.

Get ready for game day. The legacy of the dugout is about to hit the screen, proving that some stories, like baseball, are truly timeless.
