Heart Eyes 2 Sequel Gets Earlier Release Date

Get ready to pour some cocoa and brace for some scares, because the holiday slasher franchise is back, and it’s arriving sooner than you think. The highly anticipated sequel, Heart Eyes 2, is officially moving into theaters on February 4, 2028, setting an earlier stage for the romance and horror spectacle that blew up its predecessor.

This follow-up picks up the story of Ally and Jay, two co-workers who find themselves entangled in the clutches of a killer whose motives are far more complicated than a simple romantic misunderstanding. The film brings back the blend of lighthearted romance and thrilling slasher elements that made the original so memorable, wrapping it all up in a festive, holiday-themed package.

At the helm of this revamped adventure is director Josh Ruben, who is also co-writing the screenplay with Darcy Fowler. Ruben brings his signature blend of suspense and charm to the proceedings, building on the foundation established by Christopher Landon and Michael Kennedy, who were instrumental in developing the original concept.

The initial success of Heart Eyes proved that audiences were ready for a killer romance, garnering strong critical praise with a 78% score on Rotten Tomatoes. During its theatrical run, the film performed well, earning $30.4 million domestically and $33.1 million worldwide.

The sequel benefits from a fantastic ensemble cast, including Olivia Holt, who stars as Ally, alongside talent such as Mason Gooding as Jay, Gigi Zumbado, Michaela Watkins, Devon Sawa, Jordana Brewster, and Yoson An. The chemistry among the characters promises to fuel the narrative as they navigate the dangers posed by their enigmatic pursuer.

While the new release date has been set, the creative team is still busy developing the next chapter. Details regarding the expanded cast, character arcs, and how Heart Eyes 2 will deepen the original Valentine’s Day premise are yet to be fully revealed. But with Ruben and Landon guiding the way, audiences can expect a continuation of the charming, yet chilling, blend of romance and slasher horror.
