Tangled Live-Action: Zachary Levi’s Casting Views
Zachary Levi, the voice behind the iconic rogue Flynn Rider, is weighing in on the highly anticipated live-action remake of Disney’s beloved animated classic, Tangled. As the star steps into the conversation about the new adaptation, he shared a perspective that perfectly captures the hopes and realistic expectations surrounding the project.
When discussing the future of adaptation, Levi acknowledged the inherent difficulty of remaking beloved properties. He noted that not every attempt to recreate an animated success, or pursue a sequel, turns out to be a guaranteed hit. However, his focus remains squarely on the potential of this new iteration.
“I’m stoked for all those guys. I want everybody to succeed,” Levi stated. He emphasized that his enthusiasm stems from a deep care for the intellectual property and the world the story inhabits. “I want that live-action movie to be great,” he added.
The pressure is on to deliver something truly spectacular. Levi expressed a desire for the new film to successfully capture the magic of the original, asking that audiences experience everything they loved about the animated version in the live-action version.
The vision for the new adventure is bringing together a talented ensemble cast. The film features Teagan Croft as Rapunzel, Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider, and Kathryn Hahn as the formidable Mother Gothel. The supporting roles are filled by Diego Luna as Hawthorne, Caitríona Balfe as Queen Arianna, Elliot Cowan as King Frederic, and Patrick and Hugo McPherson as the Stabbington Brothers.
Behind the lens, the project is helmed by director Michael Gracey, with the screenplay penned by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and Michael Montemayor.
This musical fantasy is slated for release in theaters on March 31, 2028, by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The stakes are high, as the original Tangled was a monumental success, grossing $591.8 million on a reported production budget of $260 million and earning a Certified Fresh score of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes. Now, the focus shifts to seeing if this grand remake can match that legacy.
