When horror fans demand something truly unhinged, the studios better deliver. And for the upcoming release of Evil Dead Burn, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema delivered a collectible so gloriously gross it deserves its own spotlight.
To crank up the box office hype, the studios leaned heavily into the franchise’s most gruesome moments, creating a themed item that perfectly captures the carnage. The centerpiece is a miniature, movie-accurate popcorn bucket designed to induce immediate hazard: it features an exposed knife rack right where you are supposed to grab your concessions.
This outrageous creation was inspired by one of the film’s most infamous trailer moments—a character falling backward directly onto a precarious display of kitchen knives. It is, admittedly, ridiculous, incredibly dangerous-looking, and utterly perfect for the mayhem that defines the franchise.
But as with many viral marketing stunts, there was a massive catch regarding this morbid masterpiece: you can’t actually purchase the hazardously themed popcorn bucket.
Despite the widespread fan enthusiasm—with Deadites chanting online for an exclusive piece—reports indicate that the innovative dishwasher-themed collectible was created strictly as a promotional display. While such a bucket might have faced legal and safety hurdles in actual theaters, it served its purpose perfectly to drum up excitement on social media.
Meanwhile, anticipation is building for the film itself. Directed by Sébastien Vaniček, Evil Dead Burn follows a woman seeking solace among her in-laws after loss, only to find that the gathering quickly devolves into a family reunion from hell as members are transformed into Deadites.
First reactions to the film have been predictably intense. Fans are describing the experience using words like “gruesome,” “mean-spirited,” and “relentlessly twisted.” It seems Vaniček has delivered another spectacularly nasty installment, confirming that Evil Dead Burn will hit theaters on July 10.
The franchise continues to evolve with new entries. Beyond Evil Dead Burn, there is also Evil Dead Wrath, a film written and directed by Francis Galluppi that transports viewers back to the grittier year of 1972.
