Vampire party by Jennie Kermode
The energy at the Fantasia International Film Festival was electric, and it seemed that the buzz surrounding the premiere of I Love Paris only intensified the creative team involved. Director Nicky Murphy, alongside stars Amanita Thiboult, Leonor Oberson, and Louiza Aura, returned from the screening feeling incredibly energized by the famously outspoken audience.
The reaction to the film was infectious, reflecting the inherent party spirit woven into the narrative itself. I Love Paris is a vibrant piece of cinema that immerses viewers in a world defined by relentless drive and unexpected transformation. Filmed entirely in the first person, the movie follows a young singer navigating the complex quest for success while grappling with the challenge of turning into a vampire.
This unique blend of high-stakes ambition and playful fantasy gives the film an undeniable, celebratory atmosphere. It captures that elusive feeling of life lived to the fullest, even when surrounded by the supernatural.
Nicky Murphy reflected on the enthusiastic reception, noting that there were moments of genuine laughter throughout the screening. “Both times there’s been people laughing,” he said. “In all the right moments and more. So, yeah, I’m very pleased.”
What makes this project particularly exciting is that it developed almost by chance. Murphy revealed that the creation of the film was an organic process, born out of a spontaneous creative impulse.
“I was in the middle of trying to get another movie made,” he explained, adding that the entire concept for I Love Paris emerged at the very last minute. This serendipitous discovery proved to be the catalyst for a truly memorable and spirited cinematic experience.
