The buzz surrounding the television spinoff S.W.A.T. Exiles has reached a new level, with actor Shemar Moore confirming that the series is set to avoid the cancellation troubles that plagued its predecessor. Moore recently shared an exclusive update regarding the spinoff’s future, revealing that a filming window for Season 2 is already secured, injecting a renewed sense of stability into the highly anticipated project.
But the preparation for this next chapter isn’t just about script reading; it’s about absolute physical readiness. To deliver the intense, high-octane action demanded by the series, Moore is undergoing a rigorous physical transformation. He is currently dedicating significant time to fitness, working out for two hours a day, five days a week, alongside cardio at his home gym.
The challenge, however, has evolved with age. Moore admitted that maintaining peak physical condition is more demanding now than it was fifteen or twenty years ago. To stay sharp and ready for the demanding action sequences, the 56-year-old actor incorporates extensive recovery techniques, including sauna sessions, cold plunges, deep-tissue massages, and physical therapy.
The physical demands of the show are intense. Each episode requires eight days of filming, with the first four sessions dedicated entirely to explosive action. These sequences involve running, choreographed fights, jumping over vehicles, and escaping simulated explosions, requiring the entire cast to be in peak shape to execute the stunts effectively.
While the physical preparation is intense, Moore expressed satisfaction that the scope of S.W.A.T. Exiles allows for a manageable production schedule. Unlike the original series, which often required twenty or more episodes and stretched production over ten and a half months, the spinoff is structured for a more focused run of just ten episodes per season, making the demanding process a bit more streamlined.
Despite the logistical focus, Moore remains committed to the core mission: bringing authenticity to the narrative. He stressed that when viewers see him on screen, they should believe in the character of Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson Jr., who steps out of retirement to lead untested recruits with unwavering resolve.
S.W.A.T. Exiles, created by Jason Ning, is set to premiere on Starz on September 25th at 10 p.m. EDT. Moore serves as an executive producer alongside Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, James Scura, and Jon Cowan, ensuring that this new adventure is ready for its highly anticipated debut.
